Transit: Shin-Osaka → Shinagawa Nozomi, ~2h25, ¥14,720 pp reserved (peak-season +¥200). Book on SmartEX from 28 Feb 10:00 JST, five seats in one rear row with the oversized-baggage area. Shinagawa → HND T3 on Keikyu, 13–20 min, ¥410. Door to door 3h20–3h40.

Shinsekai & Tsutenkaku Tower 新世界・通天閣

Osaka's 1912 pleasure quarter, frozen somewhere in the 1960s: neon pufferfish, Janjan Yokocho's shogi parlours, and a dense block of kushikatsu counters. Come for the street rather than the tower — but the tower's Tembo Paradise deck and the slide down the outside are a genuinely silly 30 minutes for a group. Pairs naturally with Shitennoji and Abeno Harukas in one southern day.

Tip: Tower open 10:00–20:00, last entry 19:30. The neon is the point, so arrive around dusk. Janjan Yokocho's kushikatsu shops are cash-friendly and small — a party of five will usually be split across two counters.

Departure option A — Shin-Osaka → Shinagawa Nozomi 新大阪→品川 のぞみ

The recommended way out on 30 March. Nozomi runs Shin-Osaka → Shinagawa in about 2h16–2h23 for ¥14,720 reserved (Tokyo/Shinagawa fare band), departing every few minutes from around 06:00. Shinagawa, not Tokyo Station, is the point: the Keikyu Airport Line runs from the same building to Haneda Terminal 3 in 13–20 minutes for ¥410, with no transfer. Total door-to-door from a central Osaka apartment is roughly 3h20–3h40 including buffers.

Tip: First Nozomi is 06:00 from Shin-Osaka (arrives Tokyo 08:23, Shinagawa ~7 min earlier). OVERSIZED BAGGAGE: any bag whose height+width+depth totals 160–250 cm needs a free 'seat with oversized baggage area' reserved in advance on Tokaido/Sanyo shinkansen — same price as a normal reserved seat, ¥1,000 penalty if you turn up without one. A typical large 75 cm check-in case (~155 cm total) is under the limit; a 30-inch case (~168 cm) is over. Booking one rear row for all five gives the group both the seats and the luggage space behind them.
